Sojourner Truth State Park Steering Committee
THE ROLE OF THE STEERING COMMITTEE
The Sojourner Truth State Park Steering Committee brings together a mix of local partners and community members who reflect the broader community in Kingston and the Town of Ulster. The group helps guide the big-picture vision and supports the work by staying involved and spreading the word.
The Steering Committee builds on the foundation of community engagement carried out by Scenic Hudson, OLIN and Mass Design Group and partners with State Parks management to improve Park accessibility, communications and help facilitate inclusive, community-driven programming in the park.
PARTICIPANTS
Steering Committee participants include representatives from community organizations, advocacy groups, and public agencies that partner with the Palisades Parks Conservancy, the Palisades Interstate Park Commission, and the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation (OPRHP) to support equitable access, inclusive programming, and long-term stewardship of Sojourner Truth State Park.
Participants were invited based on their local knowledge, relevant experience, and commitment to the park’s success as a shared public resource.
