David Neil is a principal at The Durst Organization. He is the former Co-President and Chief Operating Officer of New York Water Taxi / Circle Line Downtown, where he negotiated the sale of the company after growing the business and consolidating operations. David previously co-founded an independent book publishing company to inspire the next generation of environmentalists through entertaining stories, and founded a nonprofit volunteer organization to eliminate prejudice and discrimination in local communities. David received a Juris Doctor of Law from the University of Chicago Law School and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Vassar College.
David cherishes his time in nature, especially in the Hudson Valley. He is Board Chair of the Friends of Rockland Lake & Hook Mountain, and led the efforts to protect the 40 acre “Marydell site” at the southern base of Hook Mountain and the launch of an innovative outdoor experiential learning program that connects hundreds of Nyack District elementary school students with Nyack Beach State Park and Hook Mountain. David is also a board member of Breaking Ground and founder of the Museum of the Courageous.
